Metamask is one of the leading digital wallets. You must first setup this wallet so you can login Opensea, and to buy and sell NFTs on Opensea. Metamask is installed as a Chrome extension. A chrome extension is simply an application that gets installed into your Chrome internet browser. Once installed you can access Metamask direct from your Chrome browser (under extensions bar). Metamask will also pop up automatically when it is required, for example signing into Openea, or when carrying out a digital Crypto transaction.
What does Metamask Store?
- Ethereum (ETH) Digital Crypto Currency.
- Polygon (MATIC) Digital Crypto Currency.
- ERC-20 and ERC-721 NFT Tokens. (only on Metamask mobile version only).

Make sure you keep your passwords and seed phrases secure! Do not share them with anyone.
How Metamask gets access to your NFTs
Your NFTs that are on the Ethereum blockchain should automatically appear in your Metamask wallet. When I say appear, I mean the data only should appear, not the actual image. This is because MetaMask browser extension cannot view NFTs. However, you can view them when using Metamask mobile app.
To view NFT tokens via MetaMask mobile:
- Click hamburger menu icon (3 lines).
- Tap Wallet.
- NFTs Tab.
- Import NFTs.
- Paste in the address of the NFT, along with its ID. The address of an NFT is found on your NFT Opensea page, within the details tab. Contact address is what you need to copy.
How to Create a Metamask Wallet and Opensea Account
Step 1
Goto the Opensea website using Google chrome browser. This example is assuming you are visiting google chrome via a laptop or desktop device.

Opensea requires you to setup a digital wallet. You will then sign into Opensea once you have created that digital wallet. There are various digital wallets you can choose, but MetaMask is the most common one. This article will assume you have chosen MetaMask.
Step 3
Click the “install Metamask for Chrome” button. This will install MetaMask as a Google chrome extension.

Click the “Add to Chrome” button. It will then place MetaMask in your google chrome extensions bar, which is at the top right of your Google chrome browser.

Now click the “get started” to setup your MataMask digital wallet.

Click the “Create a Wallet” button.

Choose your preference.

This is where you will create a password for your MetaMask digital wallet. It will also be the password you will use to login to Opensea, once this is setup.

We recommend you watch the video, so you will understand how to setup extra security for your wallet. MetaMask uses a secret recovery phrase for extra security.

You will need to enter the secret recovery phrase you received in step 9, into the box. By choosing the words in the right order to construct the phrase.

Buy this step you should have your MetaMask digital wallet setup. If you go to the Opensea homepage and click profile, you should be able to login via your MetaMask account. To login, type in your password, then click sign. You will then enter your Opensea profile page.
Step 12
Below is an example of what your Opensea profile page would look like. If you click the setting gear tab, you can edit this profile page so it looks more appealing to visitors. Such as creating a logo or avator, banner and about me section.
Step 13
Now you are ready to look around the Opensea market place, and purchase your first NFT! Hover over the “Explore” tab, then select the type of collection you want to see. Or if you know exactly the kind of thing you are looking for, you can select “All NFT’s” on that drop down menu, then you will have the option to filter the results. You should now know how to buy and invest in NFTs using Opensea!
